The Thomas Fire Aftermath – 5 Things You Can Do To Stay Healthy

In the aftermath of the fires, supporting our health and that of our family members is paramount.  Headaches, anxiety, fatigue, joint aches, cough, etc. are all plaguing us. Even if you’re not feeling any such symptoms, the smoke and particulate exposure is stressful to your body. The smoke and particulates damage our lungs and increase the oxidative stress on our bodies leading to increased risk of chronic disease, especially asthma, headaches, anxiety and long-term health issues.

Here are 5 things you can do to improve your health and protect your body from the damaging effects from the smoke and particulates.

  1. Drink at LEAST half your body weight in ounces of water to facilitate flushing toxins out of your body.
  2. Avoid foods that cause sinus and lung congestion (dairy, sugar, processed foods) and emphasize anti-oxidant rich foods like colorful fruits and vegetables – think red bell pepper, butternut squash, berries, etc.
  3. Use herbal and nutrient complexes to support your immune system. Echinacea, vitamin c, grapefruit seed extract etc.
  4. Take N-Acetyl cysteine, a nutrient that helps protect our bodies from stress and inhaled particles. As studies show, “NAC treatment could ameliorate pulmonary oxygen stress after smoke inhalation injury. As a result, the pulmonary antioxidant capacity was improved.” [1]
  5. Visit your Naturopathic Doctor to get GLUTATHIONE pushes. Getting glutathione IV (intravenously) allows you to absorb 100%, whereas oral supplementation delivers only a fraction of the amount. Glutathione is your body’s natural MASTER antioxidant and anti-aging super-nutrient.

At RHMC our immense gratitude goes out to all the fire fighters for keeping our community safe. All fire fighters are welcome to come in for FREE glutathione pushes.

Eat well, drink well, and provide your body the support it needs to protect your health! Empower your family and community to take control of their health.

Here’s to a happy and healthy 2018!
