What is IV Therapy Useful for?

You may or may not have heard of Intravenous Therapy (or IV therapy for short) and many of us automatically associate IV Therapy with the hospital. And while that is a common time to utilize IVs, there are many other benefits and more positive uses of IV Nutrients to achieve desired health outcomes. IV therapy benefits include supporting detoxification, immunity, hydration, prevention of disease, recovery, weight loss, hangovers, anti-aging and migraine relief, among others!

At Regenerate Health Medical Center , we have several different options for IV therapy. We offer simple nutrients such as vitamins, minerals and amino acids in very specific combinations. We also offer ozone therapy, NAD therapy and even more specialized therapies based on your need.

You may not know which IV drip you need, which is why we’re here to help you find the perfect IV for your goals, but you can at least get to know if and when IV therapy is right for you!

What is IV Therapy?

Intravenous (IV) therapy is a medical treatment that delivers fluids, medications, and nutrients directly into a patient’s bloodstream through a vein. It is a common procedure used in hospitals, clinics, and medical practices to treat a variety of conditions, including dehydration, nutritional deficiencies, infections, and cancer. This therapy allows for quick and efficient delivery of medications and nutrients, as they are able to bypass the digestive system and be absorbed directly into the bloodstream.

IV therapy involves inserting a small, sterile catheter into a vein, typically in the arm, which is then attached to a bag of fluids or medication. The rate at which the fluids or medication are delivered can be adjusted based on the patient’s individual needs. In addition to providing hydration and medication, it can also be used to draw blood for diagnostic tests.

IV therapy is considered very safe and well-tolerated, but like any medical procedure, it does carry some risks. These can include infection at the site of the IV insertion, allergic reactions to medications, and damage to the vein.

The 5 benefits of IV Therapy:

1. 100% absorption

IV therapy nutrients are administered directly into the vein, therefore your body absorbs the nutrients immediately, circulates them throughout your tissues and will saturate your cells as much as possible (meaning that your body will absorb as much as it can hold at one time). It can be challenging to absorb enough nutrients from our food to fuel our body, whether that be due to poor food quality (even if you’re choosing the most healthy of foods), quick eating times or impaired gut health.

2. Bypasses the digestive system

By getting the nutrients that your body needs directly into your veins, your digestive system can have a rest from digesting and absorbing food and beverages and you will be able to completely absorb the nutrients directly into your cells and tissues.

This is a huge benefit if you have digestive system concerns because if you have imbalanced digestion, you will have a hard time absorbing your nutrients. This would be the case if you have a leaky gut, imbalanced gut flora or low digestive enzymes, which can cause gas, bloating, indigestion, burping, constipation, diarrhea, food in your stool, etc.

3. Immediate results

Because the nutrients from IV therapy are 100% absorbed through the blood stream, the results are also quite rapid. If you’re experiencing low energy, a migraine or high stress… your body will use the nutrients immediately and you will likely notice a difference in your symptoms within hours to half a day.

Many people ask us, how long will these effects last? The answer is that it depends… It depends on your body, your individual need for the nutrients and how quickly your body will utilize the nutrients.

4. Individualized Therapy

The great thing about IV therapy is that it can be highly individualized. Dependent on your symptoms, your body’s specific needs and your desires for your health – it can all be specifically curated for you! Yes, we have set IV formulations already, but if you are an existing patient, we can tailor our offerings to you! Get the most out of your treatment.

5. Convenient

IV therapy drips are very convenient because you can work, read, nap while you drip. We can travel to you, or you can enjoy our relaxing Recovery Lounge, soaking up the exact thing your body needs. Depending on your need, the IV bags can be as quick as 20 min, but usually take around 60-90 minutes.

Several of our patients have benefitted greatly from IV therapy. From treating circulating tumor cells in those with cancer, to chronic infections, muscle recovery and heavy metal intoxication, there is an IV therapy for everyone. Our patients feel the benefits almost immediately, a once or twice occurrence is generally a quick fix, which we don’t always love, as we want to get to the root of your health concerns. However, using these therapies over time can reduce chronic disease states, resolve health concerns, and then IV therapy can then be used as needed.

It is particularly rewarding when we see people transform before our eyes, after implementing IV therapy into their regimen. A recent grad school patient came in with significant depression, fatigue, sleeping more than 12 hours every day, lack of motivation, binge eating, and poor digestion. Within two treatments, 80% of the symptoms went away! Of course, there is more work to do – why was their such deficiency, is there something else going on, etc, but this student was able to get back on her feet quickly, go to class more regularly and to pass her classes, living the healthy life she was used to!

At this point you may think, why wouldn’t I get IV therapy? And you may wonder how safe IV therapy is. When done in a medical clinic, it is very safe and effective. At our clinic we require basic blood work in order to receive IV therapy more than 100mL, to increase the safety even more, among several other safety measures.

IV therapy is a valuable treatment option if you want a more rapid improvement in your health, wellness and hydration status.

IV drips provides nutrients to support recovery, immune health, energy and detoxification. They also promotes rapid absorption of optimal doses of nutrients that may be hard for your digestive system to break down and absorb or to get from food alone.
