What is a PRP Facial vs. a Vampire Facial? Which is best?

What is a PRP Facial vs. a Vampire Facial?

PRP, often called “liquid gold,” is rich in growth factors that support natural healing and skin rejuvenation. Both PRP facial and Vampire facial are actually the same treatment—they use platelet-rich plasma to stimulate collagen and elastin production, leading to firmer, smoother, and more youthful-looking skin. The difference lies in the name, not the method. The term “Vampire facial” became popular when PRP was first introduced, as the plasma retained a reddish tint, and patients often left with what looked like a “blood mask.” Today, with more refined processing, PRP appears golden rather than red, and the treatment is commonly referred to as a PRP facial. While the branding has changed, the regenerative benefits remain the same.

What is PRP Treatment?

PRP or platelet-rich-plasma is isolated from your own blood and called “liquid gold” for its incredible healing properties. Your blood is drawn, centrifuged to pack the blood into 3 layers, the plasma, the white blood cells “buffy coat” and the red blood cells. The highest concentration of platelets are in the plasma just next to the buffy coat so we use a state of the art technique to extract just the highest concentration from your plasma. Et voila liquid gold is isolated for use wherever you need regeneration, rejuvenation or repair.

What is a PRP Regenerating Facial?

A cutting edge anti-aging facial using PRP growth factors form your own blood to give you glowing, youthful and healthy skin. Vampire facials harness the healing power of your body to boost collagen, improve skin tone, decrease redness, aging, fine lines, acne scars etc. This Medical Aesthetic Procedure gets results, naturally, without the use of harmful toxins or synthetic fillers

Best known for

  • Skin tone improvement
  • Reduction of face and neck wrinkles
  • Local treatment of skin aging
  • Decrease scarring

PRP treatment assists your body’s natural skin regeneration process, stimulating connective tissue metabolism to improve overall tissue tone. You may notice a difference after just one treatment; however, the most dramatic results will be seen after receiving a series of treatments. The positives? There is virtually no downtime, it’s natural, AND it’s safe and effective.

What is a Vampire Facial?

With the seeming fountain of youth comes a wide array of quality, training and efficacy in the concentrations made and the applications of the PRP.

Made popular by the Kardashians most recently, the Vampire Facial takes your blood with a large amount of red blood cells, making it much more red and also more inflammatory. Your appearance is much more red and noticeable post procedure with a lower concentration of growth factors being used, so less regeneration possible.

In the PRP Regenerating Facials the number one priority is the concentration of growth factors and therefore low red blood cells, helping you get better results and achieve a normal appearance more quickly post treatment.

What are the benefits of a PRP Facial?

PRP Facial Regeneration enhances collagen production and new tissue growth with a reduction in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, resulting in younger-looking skin with fewer signs of aging. PRP Facials also has effective results on hyper-pigmentation, hypo-pigmentation, acne scars, traumatic scars, dark spots, stretch marks and creates a healthier appearance and glow to the skin.

These effects improve with every procedure thanks to an improved turnover of skin cells and increased collagen deposition and new tissue growth.

Some results can be visible immediately, as the skin looks more healthy and flushed, but optimal results will appear after a series of treatments. Your tissue tone improves considerably, wrinkles smooth out and your natural glow reappears.

How is a PRP Facial done?

Your blood will be drawn to then isolate the PRP and concentrated growth factors for later use. After gentle cleansing and therapeutic facial massage, micro needling of the face, neck and decollete will begin, kick starting your body’s ability to repair. A combination of PRP and collagen boosting peptides will be applied to the skin to create maximal benefit. The procedure feels like light sandpaper being moved across the skin, but the micro needling is penetrating deeper for an enhanced therapeutic benefit.

The procedure takes approximately 45 minutes, with the full visit being approximately 1.5-2 hours.

Optionally, PRP injections can be added as a natural filler and to further stimulate collagen synthesis deeper in the skin.

When will I see results from my PRP Treatment?

Patients notice an immediate “glow” to their skin. Visible changes to the skin develop over the course of several weeks to months. Results continue to improve over months as collagen production continues.

How many PRP treatments will I need?

Most patients will need 3-6 treatments spaced 4-8 weeks apart. For extensive or advanced signs of aging, up to 8 sessions may be needed, spaced a month apart.

Tune up PRP Regenerating Facials are recommended once a year.

Which is best? PRP Facial or Vampire Facial?

Many people are confused about what PRP is and how it works—especially when the same treatment goes by different names. PRP Facial and Vampire Facial are simply two names for the same regenerative procedure. The key isn’t in the name but in the quality of the PRP, the expertise of the practitioner, and the overall patient experience. When evaluating where to get a PRP treatment, focus less on price and more on the clinic’s reputation, the purity of the plasma used, and the skill level of the provider. A well-executed PRP facial can deliver incredible results—regardless of what it’s called.

We use high-end technology to achieve a high concentration of growth factors and low red blood cell count for our PRP Regenerating Facials, with the goal of achieving the best results for our patients. You won’t be left with a red mask of inflammatory cells on your face, like a Vampire Facial.
